Kahoot makes learning fun for millions of users all over the world, but the product is too complex for the youngest children.

Together with an incredible team, ranging from pedagogue expertise to sound design, we managed to launch an MVP after 7 months.

My task was to design a new learning game for 3–7 year olds, which simultaneously keeps the well-known core from the Kahoot gameplay. Erlend designed both the app and gameplay for a user group that cannot either read or write, nor are they familiar with common UX conventions. The user group also have problems with articulating why a design works or not.

This required extensive research to validate if the content, concept and game was engaging, while still offering learning value. A tight collaboration between design, developers and content creators allowed us to soft launch 7 months after project start. Kahoot! Kids reached 3 million users in its 6 months still in soft launch.
